Serving the Federal Aviation Administration and Department of Defense, many projects involve complex logistics to secure materials and equipment in remote locations, including islands on the Aleutian chain, mountain-top sites and similarly inaccessible locations. With geographic challenges top-of-mind, our teams develop detailed plans to ensure on-time availability as they maintain project schedules, strict installation procedures and crew safety.
Beginning with a site survey, our engineers gather much-needed information to establish a constructable design that corresponds with our clients’ needs. Our team-based approach to design includes risk mitigation planning and its various milestones—engaging the client throughout the process. Prior to our submission to the client, we ensure each design is peer-reviewed internally, setting a high standard for our construction documents, specifications, and design data handbooks.
With our skilled, in-house electrical and mechanical engineers, we are able to maintain oversight and execution of the design schedule, ensuring quality along the way. When needed, we connect with our vetted mechanical, civil, structural, fire protection, and architectural partners to provide a complete design package.
Our engineers also perform full power system studies, including power load-flow analysis, short circuit analysis, protective device coordination analysis, and full arc flash risk assessment.
Our project managers and electricians develop detailed and accurate schedules, providing key dates to clients to facilitate collaboration, specifically where system cutovers and scheduled outages are required. This includes instances of testing and training and it’s at these points where communication and flexibility between the team and client ensures the smoothest process possible.
As construction moves along, a procurement strategy is required to mitigate supply chain risk. Equipment and material lead times can be inconsistent which is why we work diligently with our vendors to offset these risks where possible. We continue this facilitation, building logistical plans alongside our various partners—taking into consideration installation and location challenges—to ensure deliveries, services and access cause no operational impact. Before wrapping up, our crews provide accurate as-builts, warranties and closeout documentation to the client so as to ensure there’s complete understanding of the installed system.
With a goal of zero accidents and injuries, Wells Global steadfastly maintains a safety-first culture on every job site. We approach each project and process—from the very beginning—with this top-of-mind. Construction safety and compliance are a must to decrease risk and prevent incidents and we want all workers returning home just as safe as when they left.
